How to get to Corfu by land, sea and air
In conjunction with The Pink Palace Hotel we have our own Express Bus that runs every other day from Corfu to Athens and back. The bus is equipped with air-conditioning, TV and toilet. You can book the bus when you are here. If you need to catch our bus from Athens to Corfu please email us for further information or to make a reservation.
The Express Bus leaves Aphrodite Hostel in Athens at 8.30pm. (Be there at least an hour in advance.) Aphrodite Hostel is situated at Einardou 12 & Michail Voda 65, Victoria Square (Plateia Victorias) Athens. (Phone +30 210 88 10589 or +30 210 88 39249. Fax: +30 210 88 16574.)
You can also travel from Athens with the Greek local bus service. These buses depart from Kiffisos Bus Station (phone 210 51 29 443 or 210 51 34 559) at 7.00 am, 10.00 am and 20.00 pm. Let us know which bus you are coming on and we will meet you at Corfu Bus Station.
There is a regular bus service to Agios Gordios from the bus station near the New Port. Buses leave at 08.15, 09.15, 13.00, 14.30, 17.30, 20.00. The journey takes about 30 minutes.
On leaving the port turn right and follow the road along the coast for one and a half kilometres until you reach a set of traffic lights. At these lights turn left and follow the main road for another one and a half kilometres. At the first crossroads turn right and continue on this road for about six kilometres.
At Skorpios Supermarket turn left and follow this road for another six kilometres. At the crossroads turn left and follow the signs to Sinarades. Go through Sinarades and turn right to Agios Gordios. As you come down the last stretch of hill towards the village Pink Palace reception is situated on the left hand side of the road. We offer free outside parking for our guests.
The closest railway station is in Patras on the Greek mainland. It can be reached ny ferry from Corfu (9 hours) and from there you can take the train to Athens (3 hours).
There are several flights each day from Athens and Thessaloniki with Olympic Airlines and Aegean Airlines. From March 2008 the budget airline Easyjet will be flying daily to Corfu from London. From May until the end of October there are thousands of direct charter flights to Corfu from every European country.
In addition another budget airline, Ryanair, flies all year round from Britain to the Italian cities of Brindisi, Bari, Ancona and Venice – all of which have ferry connections with Corfu. Ferries sail from Italy and mainland Greece throughout the year. In the summer most ships call at Corfu, at other times of the year you may need to take another ferry from Igoumenitsa which is about an hour away on the Greek mainland opposite Corfu. In Italy ferries leave from Brindisi (6 hours), Bari (8 hours), Ancona (13 hours) and Venice (20 hours).
In Greece the port of departure is Patras (8 hours). We will collect you at the port and provide you with free transportation to the hostel. (On arrival in Corfu make sure you are ready to disembark quickly as the boats only stop for a few minutes.) Please phone (+30) 6945230727 and let us know what time you will be arriving.
The ferry companies serving Corfu are Minoan Lines (free for Eurail and Interail in the low season), Superfast and Blue Star Ferries (accepts Eurail and Interail), Anek Lines (no Eurail or Interail but under 26 discount) and Ventouris (also no Eurail or Interail but under 26 discount).
If you come in a taxi please ask them to take you to the Pink Palace Hotel because we operate from the Pink Palace reception. Taxis from the port and airport are more expensive than those from San Rocco Square.
No taxi journey should be more than about 30 euros. Agree a price before leaving or insist that the meter is running.
